Harvard stumbles in World Cup
6/22/2004 The Harvard men's heavyweight crew fell short in its World Cup bid, finishing sixth of six Sunday in the BearingPoint Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland. The Crimson clocked a time of 5:44.03, almost 10 seconds behind the victorious Canadian team (5:35.01). The other crew representing the US, the Olympic squad, came in fourth with a time of 5:37.26. Rounding out the top five were Germany (5:36.98), Italy (5:37.14) and Egypt (5:40.88). Harvard gained the final berth in the final round by finishing fourth in the repechage heat Saturday. From Switzerland, the team will head to the Royal Henley Regatta in London July 1-4 to compete for the Grand Challenge Cup.
